Magdalena Czajkowska (1935 -) was born in Gdynia, Poland. She settled in London in the late forties and worked for the company she and her husband had founded, designing and building electron cameras.
She is the translator of poetry by Herbert, Wierzyński, Krystyna and Czesław Bednarczyk, and has also translated plays, fiction, and books for children. Czajkowska and her husband became good friends with Zbigniew Herbert and he always stayed with them when in London. In 2000 Magdalena published her first book, a compilation of the correspondence between Herbert and the Czajkowskas.
