Robert Wilton is a writer and Balkan specialist. He was advisor to two Prime Ministers of Kosovo in the years leading to her independence, and – after a period as Private Secretary to the UK Secretary of State for Defence – has returned to Kosovo as head of policy for the international body monitoring and advising the new Government. He is co-founder of The Ideas Partnership, which stimulates and supports projects in education, cultural heritage and sustainable development. His analysis of Balkan affairs, his translations, and his short fiction have appeared widely. ‘The Emperor’s Gold’, the first of a series of historical espionage thrillers, is being published by Atlantic/Corvus in 2011.
